The Canadian tuxedo, also known as denim on denim, has always been chic to me, when done right. We all remember Jay Z and Justin Timberlake wearing baggy denim suits in the early 2000s. Nowadays, it is a more tailored fit and simple accessories that make for a great denim-on-denim look. Here’s how to make your denim “tux” work…
Dudes in Denim
We all know guys look great in denim and men live for a moment to throw on a pair of jeans. To polish the look, add a fedora or wayfarer Ray-Bans. For a more casual approach, throw on a pair of classic wheat-colored Timberland boots.
Light on Dark Denim
Mixing different washes makes your denim tux pop. You can work the look with faded blue jeans and a dark blue denim shirt on top, or wear raw denim blue jeans and pair them with a faded and distressed denim shirt.
We talked about the overall trend last month for the ladies, but at the risk of promoting hipsterism, we’re digging denim overalls for the fellas as well. If worn for the right occasion—an outdoor concert, BBQ or sports event—overalls can definitely increase a guy’s cute factor.
