UR Trends: This Spring's Flats Are a Chic Alternative to Our Beloved Heels

UR Trends: This Spring’s Flats Are a Chic Alternative to Our Beloved Heels

‘Tis the season for graduations, outdoor weddings, and festivals—all events where you may not last very long in your snazziest stilettos. You’ll need a go-to flat to give your feet a much-needed break when a grassy knoll won’t let you be great.

I never thought I’d see the day when I’d be a huge advocate for flats. I’ve been wearing heels since I was a teen and I couldn’t fathom what I’d do without them, until now. A recent foot injury forced me to put my heels away for a few weeks and embrace my newly acquired nickname, Hopalong Cassidy, in the process. The teasing and pain from the injury don’t hurt nearly as much as my hiatus from a six-inch stiletto or a chunky platform. I’m true to my life as a fashionista, and still need to maintain a certain level of chic as I hobble around town. Luckily, this spring is all about cute flats and I’m on board. I’ve worked them into my wardrobe and may even hold onto them once I’m back to my old self.

Here are some of the season’s most chic and comfortable styles:

Zara Flats

Heavy Metal

The polish of a metallic will complement any array of colors you choose to rock.

flat espadrilles

Leather Espadrilles

This season’s flat leather espadrilles are perfect for those cool but sunny days. Pair yours with a dressier version of a cool and comfy track pant.

Valentino Flats

Studded Flats

Studded flats will take your spring looks in many stylish directions. Pull out your denim tops and flirty, feminine skirts. A boyfriend jean or cropped trouser will suit this style as well.

flat slingback

Sleek Slingbacks

Low-heeled or cap-toe slingbacks make perfect sense for a polished office look. Pull out your best cigarette pant and have at it.

Chic Sneaks

Luxe sneakers have been on the scene for a little while now, so there are many styles that’ll tickle your fancy. Take a note from Pantone and the color of the year, radiant orchid, and try a pair in a lush spring color.
